University of Oxford Michaelmas Term Presentations and Events 2012
Holding an event
- As you may be aware, we coordinate dates and times for organisations wishing to hold presentations and events (to avoid clashes within a sector etc). However, once the date is confirmed, organisations are responsible for arranging their own venue, catering etc. The Employer Relations Team can provide a list of some possible venues.
- Once your booking has been confirmed, we will ask you to complete a presentation/ event form that contains the information we need in order to be able to advertise your event. Please see the section on ‘How to Book’ for details of the booking procedures.
- It is assumed that events are open to all students at the University. If you wish to target specific groups of students, please inform students of this by including details of those you wish to target in the description for your event on your presentation form.
- Said Business School arrange their own programme of events, therefore, please contact them directly (careers@sbs.ox.ac.uk) if you wish to hold an event aimed just at MBAs and/or MFEs.
Advertising your event
Providing you book into our presentation schedule we will advertise your event in Michaelmas Term in the online events listing, accessible to students via our website, and on our printed Term Planner. Please note, in order for your event to be included in the printed Term Planner, we must have received your completed presentation form by Friday, 20th July 2012.
- Our printed Term Planner is distributed to all undergraduate finalists and penultimate students, as well as postgraduate finalist students.
- The online events listing in CareerConnect is accessible to all students and alumni. This lists all events in the term and includes basic event information (venue, time, etc.) as well as a short description of the event and any booking or registration details. Any late changes to the details given on the printed term planner are reflected in the online events listing.
- Details of events for the forthcoming week also appear in our email newsletter, which is available to all registered students. The newsletter is produced weekly in term time.
- We have currently stopped sending out posters to the Colleges as we have found from feedback that they are not an effective marketing tool, as they tend to get lost among a sea of information on notice boards in JCR's and Porters’ Lodges. If you wish to send a single poster (maximum size A4) to the Careers Service, we can put it up on our 'What's On' board.
Event attendance
- Please be aware we are unable to guarantee attendance numbers for events. Last year student attendance numbers for events was varied.
- The Careers Service is not able to organise sign-up for an event on your behalf. You will need to provide an email address, telephone number or web address if you wish students to sign up (this should be given on the presentation form).
- If this is the first time you are planning to present to University of Oxford students, you may wish to consider attending one of our fairs as an alternative option (please see the Employers section of the website, http://www.careers.ox.ac.uk/employers/careers-fairs/, for further information). You are also welcome to contact us at presentations@careers.ox.ac.uk if you would like to discuss your plans and ideas.
