Exciting undergraduate opportunities in research and leadership!

“If you aspire to do research, this is the best chance you will ever get as an undergraduate student.”
– 2017 Laidlaw Scholar

Are you an undergraduate who is considering postgraduate study or a career in research?  Would you like to develop your research and leadership skills? Are you looking for a way to spend time on a project that you love? If so, the Laidlaw Undergraduate Research & Leadership Programme could be just what you’re looking for!

As a Laidlaw Scholar, you’ll have the opportunity to undertake a fully-funded research project of your own design at any institution worldwide, alongside practical leadership training which will help you understand and manage yourself and those around you.

The 2016-17 Laidlaw Scholars undertook research across Europe, the US, Asia, South Africa, and Australia. Their projects spanned the humanities, sciences and social sciences – exploring topics as diverse as the effects of elephants on vegetation, the effects of women in government, stem cell therapy, and how female doctors treated STDs in early twentieth century America. If there’s a topic you’re passionate about, apply now!

“The Laidlaw Programme provided me with the opportunity to carry out research in a topic I am highly passionate about, whilst gaining the vital experience I need to aid my future career.”

Come to this session to find out more! No need to book, but places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

“I must use superlatives: this opportunity is unparalleled.”
