Teacher training funding announced for 2018-19

Blogged by Abby Evans on October 11, 2017.

The Department of Education have now published details of the scholarships and bursaries available to trainee teachers for the academic year 2018-19.

As in previous years the value of the bursary you receive is dependent on the subject and age-range you train to teach, and the degree classification you obtain.

New for 2018-19, secondary maths early career payments: In addition to a £20,000 bursary (for graduates with a 2.2 or above) secondary maths trainees will receive 2 additional early-career payments of £5,000 each (£7,500 if teaching in specified areas of England) in their third and fifth year of teaching, if they have taught in a state-funded school in England since completing their teacher training course.
