School teaching is the most popular occupation that Oxford students go into on graduating. This fair is your opportunity to explore the many different routes into teaching – and career options both in and outside the classroom.

At the fair you’ll be able to:

  • Explore routes into teaching – from PGCE to SCITT, and from academies to private schools.
  • Talk to teachers about career options and opportunities.
  • Meet over 20 schools, training providers and other education organisations.

Alumni / Researchers @ the Teaching & Education Fair (14.30-15.15)

These two events run simultaneously before the fair – one for alumni and one for DPhils and Research Staff interested in education. Depending on numbers, these events could be one-on-one careers advice appointments with Dr Mike Moss or Dr Rachel Bray respectively, or group workshops. Book online first for through CareerConnect’s event calendar.

Routes Into Teaching (15.00-15.30)

This session will cover everything you need to know about the various routes into teaching including School Direct, the PGCE, Teach First and the HMC Teacher Training route for independent schools. Not to be missed if you’re weighing up your options for teacher training routes or due to be making an application.

Education Policy Careers (17.45-18.30)

Are you interested in tackling pressing questions facing our education system? Do you want to review government policies to identify opportunities for innovation? Have you wondered how other global education structures compare? If ‘yes’ then a career in education policy may be for you but how do you get a job as an education policy analyst and where can you work? This panel session includes a range of professionals working in various areas of education policy with the aim of helping you to navigate this popular line of work. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion so come prepared with things you want to ask our experts.
