HarperCollins' Free Author Academy for Budding Writers and Authors is back!
If you have a story to tell but think voices like yours aren't heard, the HarperCollins Author Academy is a free online programme that will train and support 90 writers a year from underrepresented ethnic backgrounds. The closing date is 30 November 2021
The HarperCollins Author Academy will train and support writers from underrepresented ethnic backgrounds, with the aim of helping them to become commercially successful in the publishing environment. The six-week online programme, in which HarperCollins equip enrolled students with the tools to succeed in the publishing industry, is free to attend. The aim is to help motivated and dedicated writers become authors who are able to participate in, and navigate, the publishing industry and get their voices heard.
The first cohort of 45 students will be recruited by mid-December ready for the six-week term of online classes beginning on mid-January 2022. You will need to check that these online classes don't clash with your Oxford tutorial commitments.
HarperCollins have had lots of support from across the industry as well as external partners and with such a wealth of expertise, it can deliver content that will give students knowledge of the entire end-to-end publishing process and the tools to write great stories.
The programme consists in twelve 60-mins publishing masterclasses.
Each student will then select one of 3 live streams: writing fiction; writing non-fiction and writing for children
Four 2-hour tutorials
Two open sessions with guest author, speakers such as Rachel Edwards and Smriti Halls
