News on the Solicitor Qualification Exams

Following approval by the Legal Service Board to the full introduction of the  Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE) changes to the route to qualification as a solicitor will start to come into effect from September 2021. Qualified lawyers from jurisdictions outside England and Wales who wish to be admitted here will also be affected as SQE will start to replace the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme (QLTS).

Implementation of SQE by legal employers who currently take on trainee solicitors is likely to be gradual given that provision has been made for a transition phase from old to new systems. However, you will already start to see differences in post graduate legal education as providers gear up for the changes.
