Insight into Teaching

If you are thinking about a career in teaching then spending time understanding the realities of life in the classroom in is extremely important, not only to help you to decide whether teaching is for you, but also to enhance your teacher training application – whether you are considering a PGCE, School Direct, Teach First or another route into teaching.

Insight into Teaching in Hilary 2022

We usually work with schools across Oxfordshire and beyond to arrange for Insight into Teaching participants to have three days in a primary or secondary school observing subject teaching of your choice. We hope to return to this in Hilary Term 2022. As soon as we know if it is possible to offer in-school experiences we will update these pages and launch applications. We always add news and events to our newsletter too so make sure you check the Careers Service newsletter in the new year.

How to Apply

When we open applications in Hilary Term 2022 you will be able to apply through CareerConnect. Further information on what you need to submit (usually subject preference, school type, age group along with motivations for the programme) will be published in the new year.

Who Can Attend

When we are able to offer in-school placements again the programme will be open to any current, matriculated University of Oxford student (undergraduate or postgraduate).

Alumni and research staff are recommended to book a 1:1 with a careers adviser to discuss finding ways to gain teaching experience.
