Tickets are on sale for the SYP Autumn Conference, hosted at Oxford Brookes University on Saturday 23 November: if you are looking to break into the publishing industry, or to move onto the next stage of your career in publishing, then this is the perfect event for you.

SYP have organised a day full of informative panels, networking opportunities, and inspiring talks from leaders in the industry, which will give you the opportunity to begin paving your own way in publishing.

The conference will begin with a talk from Hannah Telfer, the Managing Director of Audiences and Audio at Penguin Random House. This will be followed by a host of varied events, on topics ranging from bookselling and transferable skills, to independent publishers and inclusivity schemes. Speakers include:

  • Suzy Astbury (Managing Director of Inspired Selection)
Emma Bradshaw (Head of Campaigns at The Booksellers Association)
Cassie Leung (Resourcing Advisor at Penguin Random House)
  • Suzanne Collier (Founder of Bookcareers)
  • Lesley Sommerville (HR Director at Oxford University Press).

SYP’s 12 events are divided into three streams which will focus on how the industry can innovate, adapt, and overcome the obstacles that it faces. The conference will then close with a panel discussion of social media in the publishing industry, followed by an after-party where you can chat to other aspiring and established publishing professionals.
