28 May, 13:00-14:00. Book your place in CareerConnect

Come along to hear from five Oxford Alumni, all working in different areas of the business, about their routes into P&G, top tips for applications and how to build experience for CVs and cover letters, further insight into the company and the internships, roles and job routes that P&G offers as an employer. This should be a hugely insightful and interesting event.

Do submit any questions you have for the panel in advance of the event to our Business and Management Careers Advisers Juliet Tomlinson at juliet.tomlinson@careers.ox.ac.uk and Lara Hayward at lara.hayward@careers.ox.ac.uk, who will be facilitating the event.

Speaker bios

Catherine Haigh – Keble

Cat graduated from Keble in 2017 having studied Human Sciences (the degree that no one’s heard of, but is genuinely fascinating!). She had done an internship with P&G in her summer holiday of 2nd year, which she describes as a bit of an experiment to try out Sales, but ended up really enjoying the role. She was happy to receive a job offer and went back to finish her degree.

Before starting at P&G, Cat deferred her start date and took a year out, where she travelled around India, worked for a start up in Chile and spent 3 months filming a documentary in Central Asia. She’s currently in her second role at P&G having started nearly 2 years ago. Cat is currently an Account Manager on the Amazon Account. She is responsible for selling some of P&G’s key brands to Amazon –managing the businesses for Pampers, Gillette, Olay & our four haircare brands. Cat says ‘It’s a fairly intense role, especially now that COVID has changed online shopping habits, but there’s never a dull moment and I’m learning a huge amount. When people ask me whether this is what I expected to end up doing – the answer is no! I’m not sure anyone ever really knows where they expect to end up after Uni… but I’m definitely glad I applied to P&G.’

Georgia Trapp – St Hugh’s

Georgia graduated from St Hugh’s in 2014, having studied Spanish and Italian. While on her year abroad, she was able to find the time to apply for some internships and fortunately, with P&G’s international presence, was able to interview at their Buenos Aires office via videoconference with the UK and was successfully offered an internship for P&G Sales between her 3rd/4th years at Oxford. Although she was sad to not spend the summer travelling around South America, this was probably the sensible decision! After her 10wk internship, she was offered a full-time role and started at P&G in March 2015.

In the last five years, she has worked mainly on the Beauty businesses across two of the UK’s biggest supermarkets. Charlotte says ‘You really do immediately get given a pretty huge business to work on and have full ownership for the relationship with your buyer on the other side and the plans you run together.’  She has also spent 18months in a “Market Strategy” role, designing plans for the full UK and Ireland business on Pampers Nappies. In the last 6 months, she has taken the lead on Sustainability for the UK/I Sales organisation, leading trainings and communicating what P&G is doing internally and externally with retailers, and she is excited about some of the great initiatives that are coming in this area over the next few months.

Toby Frampton – Mansfield

Before joining Procter & Gamble, Toby studied Geography at Oxford. His first role in the company was as a National Account Manager on the Tesco business. He then transitioned to the Brand Management function and is currently Assistant Brand Manager for Oral Care. In this role Toby works on the brand and business strategy across Oral-B and Fixodent. Outside of work Toby enjoys Skiing and whilst at Oxford, he was an active member of OUSSC.

Liam Sargeant – Balliol

Liam has been working in Company Communications since October, after graduating from Oxford in Summer 2019 from reading English at Balliol College. The main focus of his job as a Communications Manager is to build and maintain the reputation of P&G both internally, through employee networks, and externally for all P&G stakeholders. Having not done the regular route of internships and a three-day brand academy, Liam had a slightly unusual start at P&G, joining at a time when there were no other Grads starting at the same time, but quickly discovered that this doesn’t stop you from meeting new people and building your personal and professional networks within the company.

Charlotte Ainslie – St Hugh’s

Charlotte is the Trial Assistant Brand Manager (ABM), meaning she works across all the P&G brands, finding new ways to get consumers to try P&G products. She started at P&G in September 2018, having just graduated in Human Sciences from St Hugh’s College, Oxford.  Her entry to P&G was through the Brand Management 10-week internship, which she completed between her second and third years of uni. Charlotte loved the internship as it was a great chance, not only for P&G to find out if she suited them, but also whether P&G suited her. Once she completed her degree, P&G agreed to give her 18 months off, which she spent travelling and working. She’s now been in the company just over a year and a half and is about to move to her 2nd assignment, as the Daz ABM. Outside of work, Charlotte loves to travel and really enjoys photography. She really enjoys music and loves attending gigs, singing with my choir and spending the summer at festivals.
