Oxford University graduates admitted into the 11th cohort Schwarzman Scholars

Schwarzman Scholars has recently announced its eleventh cohort of admitted students into its prestigious graduate fellowship. 

Schwarzman Scholars is a fully funded, one-year master’s programme in global affairs, based at Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University in Beijing. It offers a distinctive learning experience designed to equip the next generation of leaders to navigate the geopolitical challenges of the 21st century. Each year, up to 200 candidates from across the globe are selected to form a diverse, international cohort. The programme seeks individuals with strong leadership potential and a commitment to fostering cross-cultural understanding.

About the 2026-2027 Scholars

Jason Chau 

China - University of Bristol, University of Oxford

Chit Hang (Jason) Chau is a journalist for Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal, where he covered Asian markets, business, and economics. His writing has also appeared in The Economist and the Financial Times. He has interviewed leading policymakers and thinkers, covering major international events such as the Munich Security Conference. An MPhil graduate of the University of Oxford, he studied Social Policy and Intervention and served as editor-in-chief of The Oxford Student newspaper and editor of the Oxford Political Review. As a Schwarzman Scholar, Jason seeks to better understand China’s political economy and enhance international reporting on the country. Jason grew up between the U.S., the U.K., and China and is originally from Hong Kong.

Sung Jae Harry Park

South Korea - London School of Economics and Political Science, University of Oxford

Sung Jae (Harry) Park graduated with an MSc in Sociology from the University of Oxford and a BSc in Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, specializing in mobilization studies, particularly those that involve extreme political violence, including terrorism. This academic focus shapes his professional dedication to conflict prevention. Harry has worked with the British Red Cross, the U.K. Parliament, the government of South Korea, and the UNHCR. As a Schwarzman Scholar, he aims to examine the emerging threat of radicalization in strongly cohesive societies, taking China as a case study. He is currently fulfilling his national service as a Military Security Observer. Harry is from South Korea.

Jo Teo

Singapore - University College Utrecht, University of Oxford

Jo Teo is a physicist and science communicator with a master’s degree in Mathematical and Theoretical Physics from the University of Oxford. They founded Data Rakyat, a civic education initiative that breaks down current affairs through data-driven storytelling. With professional experience in education and a growing presence in civic and political advocacy, Jo leverages public platforms to make discourse in Singapore more inclusive, transparent, and evidence-based. As a Schwarzman Scholar, they aim to deepen their understanding of governance and develop scalable tools for participatory democracy that close the gap between everyday citizens and policymakers. Jo is from Singapore.

Sara Torres

Colombia - Tufts University, University of Oxford

Sara Torres is the Outreach Officer at the TIDE Centre at the University of Oxford, where she leads engagement with partners on industrial policy, technology transfer, and biodiversity for innovation across the Global South. She has political risk analysis experience with leading think tanks, including the Wilson Center and the Council on Foreign Relations, and with consulting firms, including Eurasia Group. She co-founded the Oxford Latin American Society, and, earlier, the Tufts Latin American Committee. She holds a Master of Philosophy in Latin American Studies from the University of Oxford and bachelor’s degrees in International Relations and Latin American Studies from Tufts University. Sara is from Colombia and Spain.
