S2DS offers a significant opportunity for students and recent alumni to apply their knowledge, interest and expertise in data analytics and data science within a commercial setting. A dedicated Oxford University scholarship is available for the programme.
Read Oxford University alumnus Jasper Hajonides van der Meulen's perspective on his experience on the S2DS programme and how this relatively short programme provided a steppingstone from an academic path into a commercial data science role.
The S2DS bootcamp provides five weeks of intensive, project-based training and application of data science within a client-based project. It is suitable for MSc and PhD graduates and students in the final year of their studies who can commit to a full-time programme. Candidates need to have at least intermediate programming experience in Python or R to be suitable for the course.
S2DS runs three times each year, in March, August and October. Applications are now open as follows:
- for the August programme (25 July - 26 August), apply by 30 April 2022.
- for the October programme (24 October - 25 November), apply by 30 June 2022.
Scholarships and Fees
Oxford University applicants can chose between two possible routes for S2DS scholarships, but candidates may only apply to one of these options. Successful candidates who do not secure a scholarship will need to pay a registration fee of £800, and there are no additional costs.
S2DS Oxford scholarship applications
Since January 2022, a dedicated Oxford University scholarship is available for one candidate on each S2DS programme and provides a full waiver of the registration fee. It has its own dedicated application process.

S2DS Partial Scholarship applications
For every edition of the S2DS programme there are a limited number of partial scholarships open to any applicant, and awarded on a needs and merit basis. To be eligible for this partial scholarship, candidates must apply using the standard S2DS application form and complete the appropriate additional section on that application.
