Peeple on collaborating with Oxford students through the Making a Difference programme

Through the Careers Service’s Making a Difference programme, Oxford charity Peeple partnered with Oxford University students. They share their experience of the collaboration and of working with students on a real organisational project.

About Peeple

Peeple is a charity working with parents, carers and young children, supporting early learning through everyday interactions at home and in the community.

Collaborating with Oxford students

"We had a very positive experience working with the Making a Difference team. From the outset, the students approached the project with curiosity and a strong sense of ownership. Following our initial meeting, they carried out a thorough review of our existing content alongside a well-judged analysis of comparable organisations within our sector, and the wider parenting space.

What stood out was their ability to work independently, synthesise a wide range of inputs and translate these into a clear and realistic strategy. They demonstrated strong analytical skills in identifying patterns across the sector, as well as good judgement in applying these insights in a way that aligned with Peeple’s values and capacity as a small charity.

Their final presentation consisted of each student sharing their findings and sample content - providing us with valuable, implementable outputs.

The project demonstrated the students’ ability to apply research, strategic thinking and teamwork in a live client context. We would strongly recommend the programme to both students and other organisations." - Peeple

About the Making a Difference programme

Making a Difference is a University of Oxford Careers Service programme supporting students to build professional skills for purpose-led careers, with hands-on projects in charities and social enterprises.

Many Oxford students are keen to secure jobs that give them a sense of purpose and where they can make a real difference in the world and to people’s lives. This programme aims to provide the key skills, relevant experiences, a network of stimulating people working in the field, and insight into the career paths possible that together can provide that sense of purpose and impact.
