The Careers Service team is delighted to share that two of our services supporting students and research staff at the University of Oxford have been shortlisted for the 2025 Vice-Chancellor’s Awards. The Micro-Internship Programme is shortlisted for the Support for Students Award and our Careers Advisers for Research Staff are shortlisted for the Research Culture Award. This recognition highlights our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality careers support and valuable programmes that empower students and research staff to achieve their professional goals.
The winners and highly commended nominees will be announced at a special ceremony hosted by the Vice-Chancellor at the Sheldonian Theatre on Thursday 15 May.
Ahead of the ceremony, all are welcome to attend the Awards Showcase in Blackwell Hall at the Weston Library on Tuesday 13 May, where shortlisted nominees will present and discuss their work. Sign up to attend the Awards Showcase.
Support for Students Award
Recognising Oxford University staff who have supported students' development.
The Career Service’s micro-internships are short voluntary learning and development opportunities exclusive to our students. Each internship gives them the opportunity to work on a specific project. The aim is to develop employability skills and build networks. Placements can be research-based or professional, with host organisations ranging from research labs to libraries.
Research Culture Award
Recognising those who have contributed to a positive, inclusive and equitable research culture.
The Careers Advisers for Research Staff team at the Careers Services deliver 30 1:1 appointments each week, careers workshops including for disadvantaged groups, an annual careers conference, and more. Since 2022, the ‘CareerConnect’ platform has seen careers engagement rise from only 18% to 53% of researchers registered.
