Applying to US Graduate Schools

In this session we’ll focus on how to write effective applications for admission to masters and PhD courses at universities in the USA. We’ll look at the set of application documents commonly required and focus in particular on crafting the admissions essay or personal statement. We'll cover strategies to generate ideas, develop structures and craft openings with plenty of examples. Learn about what to include, what to avoid, and what the academics who read the essays are looking for. This session will also be helpful if you are writing essays for scholarships such as the Fulbright, Knox or Kennedy Fellowships.

How to Apply for Master's Programme

In this session we'll focus on how to put together effective personal statements for Masters applications. We'll also look briefly at academic CVs, writing research proposals and other aspects of the application process. Though we'll focus primarily on UK applications, much of the material will also be relevant to applications to universities outside the UK.

Graduate Medicine Support Group

We set up the Graduate Medicine Support Group for anyone who is thinking of applying for graduate medicine or indeed is in the process of applying. The meeting provides a forum for discussion on topics such as how to get medical work experience, preparing for admissions tests and interviews etc.

How to Apply to European Graduate Schools: Expert Panel

Wednesday 19/11/25, 12:00 - 13:00  Online 

This session will provide an overview of European Graduate Schools. We will explore costs, funding and how to narrow down options. We will also be joined by a speaker who has studied in Munich, who will share their perspective of studying abroad in Europe, including searching for options and deciding where to study.
