Previous experience

After developing an interest in genetics, Sara pivoted her career toward academic research pursuing a PhD in molecular biology at the MRC Mammalian Genetics Unit. As a Postdoctoral Researcher, she investigates the impact of diabetes mellitus in different species including dogs, murine models and humans.

Sara is also a Senior Editor and Social Media Lead for the website research-careers.org, where she interviews and collects stories of postdoctoral science transitioning away from academia. 

She enjoys interacting and helping students and has served as a Student Adviser for postgraduate students at St Peter's College (Oxford) since 2021.
