Previous experience

Abby’s research used geophysical methods to study the extent of volcanism associated with the initial rifting of the North Atlantic. Following post-doctoral work at Cambridge, Abby taught GCSE Science and Physics and Geology A levels in a Leicester secondary school before moving into careers work at Oxford.

With a particular focus on science and education, she regularly contributes to outreach activities for the University. Abby manages the Insight into Teaching programme for Oxford students and co-leads the Career Development Programme for Crankstart Scholars. She chaired a national advisory group on Teaching and Related Professions, and is a contributing author to publications on engineering, education and academic careers.

Colleges & departments

Abby works with the Departments of Physics, Earth Sciences, Materials Science and Education. She is the link adviser for St Edmund Hall, Reuben College and St Cross College.
